I also grew up with Italian Star bread -- in Somerville, MA. The bakery was in Ball Square (remember when towns had squares?).
Can anyone refresh my memory here: did the bread have 4 points or five? Was the crust thin but crisp, and the inside light and chewy, but with a less-dense texture than usual Italian white breads?
